Wild Moon is Auckland’s best açai, taking over our Instagram feeds

Beloved for their world-class açai bowls, matcha lattes, and coffee that even the fussiest of coffee snobs can’t fault, the Wild Moon caravan has become a beachside weekend staple for locals—and Remix editors alike—since its launch in October of 2024. Found footsteps from Auckland’s Kohimarama Beach, this little white caravan regularly attracts long lines of dog walkers, run clubs and families every week; and it all started when a cool health-conscious collective was eager to share their love of wellness and connection.

Remix sat down with Wild Moon founder, Georgia Wilshire, to discover what it takes to start a small business, her secrets to the perfect açai, and her non-negotiable wellness rituals.

Georgia, can you tell us a little bit about Wild Moon?

Wild Moon first came to life in 2021 as a sustainable homeware brand, co-founded with an old friend. We started by designing beautiful, eco-conscious smoothie tumblers and accessories—think bamboo spoons, coconut bowls, glass straws. As the brand evolved, so did my vision. I wanted to create something that allowed me to connect with people in real life, share my love for wellness, good coffee, and nourishing food. That’s how the Wild Moon caravan came to be, serving specialty coffee and açaí bowls right by the beach. I’m so grateful for the incredible support and loyal community we’ve built at Kohimarama Beach where we pop up every weekend.

What inspired you to create Wild Moon? Have you always wanted to start your own business?

Definitely! I’ve always known the typical 9–5 wasn’t for me. I wanted to work for myself, build something meaningful, and create a lifestyle that aligned with my values. I’ve had a strong passion for nutrition and wellness from a young age, so the açaí bowl concept just felt like a natural fit. Not many places in New Zealand offer them, and I thought, what better place than by the ocean to enjoy something refreshing and nourishing? 

What’s your favourite item on the Wild Moon menu?

It has to be the iced maple latte—hands down.

You are renowned for making the most delicious açai bowls? What’s the secret? Can we know the secret?

I like to think it's all in the quality and care we put into every bowl. Our açaí itself is 100% organic and we’re proud to work with some of the best brands in the industry to bring top of the line products to our customers. 

In light of our Autumn Wellness edition, what are your non-negotiable wellness rituals?

One of the perks of running my own business is that I get a bit more flexibility during the week. That downtime is really sacred to me. I use it to reset and ground myself. I love starting the day with a walk or a bit of gentle movement.

Matcha or coffee?

Definitely a coffee girl! 

What’s next for Wild Moon? Do you have any exciting plans for the future of the brand?

Yes! We’re looking at adding some cosy new items to our menu for the cooler months—think warm, nourishing options… We’re also exploring new spots to pop up during the weekdays, so make sure you’re following along for location updates. Do you have any advice for someone wanting to start their own business?

Just start. If you wait until everything is perfect, you’ll never take the leap. There will be challenges, and it won’t always be easy—but that’s all part of the journey. If it were easy, everyone would be doing it! Back yourself, trust your gut, and surround yourself with people who uplift and support your vision.
