How I conquered quitting coffee with Matcha Made

I had accepted that the afternoon crash was just part of my day-to-day. It was usually a given—at three o’clock every day, I would hit the wall and was no longer what you’d call ‘civilised’. All I wanted was to go to bed; it was officially my nap time. And if that wasn’t an option, I was agitated.

This is how I thought life was until I discovered matcha. During my morning doom-scroll through socials, I stumbled upon an article spotlighting the benefits of this magical green goodness. I was intrigued by what I read: a drink that’s incredibly good for your health, full of sustained energy, without the jitters, panic, or crashes that my usual coffee gave me? I made it my mission, I had to try it.

Luckily, there’s a local wellness store near my house... I (basically) ran there to ask my local wellness wizard (aka the owner of the wellness store) all about matcha and which brand I should try. Knowing my love for all things sweet, she recommended Matcha Made’s Strawberry Matcha. I’d seen the brand on TikTok and was so excited to try a caffeine alternative that wouldn’t leave me with the shakes. The strawberry flavour was an added bonus.

Within my first week, I noticed a huge difference: I no longer felt my body crashing in the early afternoon after having a cuppa. It was unusual. The energy in my body felt different—way less frazzled and much more sustained. Each serving of Matcha Made has around 30mg of caffeine, compared to the 95mg in a typical cup of coffee. But Matcha also contains L-theanine, a unique compound that transforms the caffeine experience. Instead of a quick spike and crash, L-theanine allows caffeine to be released gradually, promoting steady, sustained energy without the dreaded post-caffeine slump. Basically, my body no longer felt like havoc or doom-crashing like it would after sipping a coffee, and instead, my energy sustained around 6 hours with Matcha Made.

By week two, I was literally glowing... from the inside out. Packed with antioxidants, matcha has become my skin’s new superfood secret. And as a bonus, I’d also become a little obsessed with my morning ritual of making a matcha latte. It became a small routine that added a refreshing strawberry lift to my morning, giving me a moment to pause—and saved me money by skipping my usual coffee runs.

By week three, things started to make more sense—I felt sharper, with a newfound clarity in my thoughts. With its natural combination of caffeine and L-theanine, matcha supports improved focus, quicker reaction times, and heightened alertness, making it the perfect pairing for a balanced, feel-good energy boost.

It’s been a few months now, and I’ve officially made the switch to matcha and I treat myself to Matcha Made’s Strawberry goodness every day (emphasis on every day). The jitters and caffeine crash that once defined my day have been replaced with a strawberry treat, and it feels so lovely to skip the afternoon slump. With juicy notes of freshly picked strawberries and just the right hint of natural sweetness, Matcha Made’s Strawberry Matcha is the perfect at-home latte, especially with summer just around the corner. Simply whisk it with warm water and top it up with milk (soy milk in my case), enjoy hot or iced and indulge in the health benefits of green tea - without compromising on quality of flavour.
