Explore New Mobility with SIXT NZ
Searching for the perfect car whether travelling or taking the plunge into ownership can be daunting. When you need to get from A to B in true style, new mobility company SIXT NZ is a sure way to go.
Remix's brand manager, Portia, had the opportunity to step away from the desk and roll through rural landscapes and city streets in eight vehicles that are part of SIXT's premium fleet. This emulated the flexibility of its subscription model with an ability to switch out vehicles to suit different needs rather than be wedded to traditional car ownership, such as the electric Audi e-tron GT for city commutes or a Land Rover Defender when going on a weekend roadie.
"I loved experiencing all that SIXT has to offer with its 'New Mobility' model. My favourite vehicle on the day was the Mercedes-Benz GLS 400D AMG. As a gal with a small hatchback car, I loved driving something bigger, and to me, a Mercedes-Benz is the epitome of modern luxury. My dream of zipping around in this car on the daily felt a lot more attainable!"
Coupling up with Giltrap Group, SIXT NZ offers 'New Mobility' - a dynamic, fuss-free car subscription service as well as short-term rentals, giving customers an alternative to traditional vehicle ownership and enabling them to drive an extensive range of car models. Just like a monthly Netflix subscription, you can sub a car on a monthly basis or 6, 9 or 12 month stints, enabling you to have the latest and greatest without the commitment (or hefty price tag that comes with a new car). The beauty of SIXT subscriptions is they include insurance, maintenance, and mileage costs, ultimately taking out all the admin and extra fees, getting you on the road with ease.
And much like the saying 'life is about the journey, not the destination', those looking to up their holiday game are sorted with the short-term rental part of the offer. This means drivers can opt the ultimate in supercars such as the McLaren GT, a Land Rover Defender if you fancy a little bit of off-roading or a practical Volkswagen Golf for a business trip.
"We're giving people tremendous freedom to choose what suits them at any given moment, plus try new technology too. It's the logical choice rather than being stuck with one solution like a 7-seater that is fit for purpose just once per year," says SIXT NZ's CEO Dane Fisher.
When discussing the business model itself, it was clear that the progression of this subscription offer has seen great success overseas and is the future of driving. SIXT NZ also aims to beat all carbon neutral objectives, working towards a 25% EV fleet by 2025 goal. This also offers Kiwis the ability to test and see if an EV is right for them, with the options from the beloved Audi e-tron GT, the Mercedes Benz EQA and the popular Polestar 2.
"The subscription model just makes sense, I've always wanted to try an EV but I can't currently afford the luxury of an electric vehicle, however, the service makes this attainable and customisable, allowing drivers to try a range of cars to find one that suits their preferences." - Remix's Brand Manager, Portia Gascoigne.
Subscriptions start from just over $1,000 per month, and when you can drive anything from ground-breaking EVs to top spec McLaren GTs without the pain of insurance, registration, maintenance and depreciation. We're sold.
