Exercise and hydration; what to drink, how often, and when…

Most of us are well-practised at rehydrating post-exercise but often neglect to think about fluid needs during exercise. So to help you stay hydrated and make the most out of your sessions, here are some basic guidelines…

Why is it important?

Because our bodies are made up of about 70% water, staying hydrated is crucial for every vital chemical reaction in the body. We lose water naturally throughout the day. When we sweat, our bodies lose fluids and electrolytes (mostly sodium) and should be replaced to help recover for the next time you hit the gym or go for a run.

Choose the right drink

Depending on your activity, how hard you are working out and your training goals, your choice of drink may differ between plain water, a sports drink with carbohydrate or a no sugar version. Powerade’s Active Water is the brand’s newest scientifically formulated sports drink with added B vitamins for energy, 4 electrolytes and no sugar.

Available in two delicious flavours, Peach & Apple and Lemon, these multi-tasking drinks offer Powerade’s unique ION4 electrolytes, in a sugar-free alternative, a great companion for any active occasion - from a walk or yoga class, gym session or playing sports.
