The Remix girls style their favourite Elementary pieces for summer

For many, summer signals a whirlwind of packed schedules, festive stress, and an endless juggling act. But for heritage fashion and lifestyle brand Max, the new season is an invitation to slow down, embrace mindfulness, and, of course, do it all in impeccable style. Enter Elementary, Max’s new in-house label, where a carefree approach meets considered design.

As Max’s go-to summer in-house brand, Elementary marks the start of a curated journey toward elevated essentials for the season ahead. Its debut collection captures the essence of summer with beach-to-bar versatility and a wardrobe built for seamless transitions. Think staple separates, coordinated sets, and warm-weather pieces that slip effortlessly into your rotation. Every detail, from fabric to silhouette, has been thoughtfully designed to balance longevity with low environmental impact.

Fine-knit crochet, French linens, and organic cottons set the foundation for the collection’s elevated yet breezy aesthetic. From the Seacomber Wide Leg Linen Pant to the Cove Knit Tank, each piece feels light, airy, and undeniably comfortable—perfect for sun-soaked beach days or leisurely al fresco lunches.

At its core, the collection takes on a palette of muted earthy tones, brought to life in everyday essentials such as shorts, pants and shirts. The result feels like a natural extension of a quintessential Kiwi women’s wardrobe, one that is unfussy, simple and effortlessly stylish. Whether you choose to style a full monochromatic look featuring the Sawyer Hemp Blend Crew Neck Tee with the Reef Cargo Pant or pair the Cleo Contrast Stitch Tee with an existing patterned, colourful bottom, the choice is yours and the versatility is limitless.

Remix team members Martha, Monique and Georgia were invited to style new-season Elementary looks and the results are in - we’re hooked. Here’s how we’re styling Elementary this season.

Martha, Digital & Social Manager
“I’m a double-denim devotee, so the Pearl Cotton Shacket and Skipper Cotton Shorts immediately caught my eye. This dark denim wash set offers all the look of classic denim with none of the stiffness—thanks to its soft, stretchy fabric. I’ve accessorised with the Max Contrast Stitch Belt, a rattan bag, and denim-look platforms because, let’s be honest, you can never have too much denim. From deck drinks to beachside hangs (just swap platforms for jandals), this look is my new summer uniform.”

Monique, Campaign & Marketing Manager
“I’m so glad that longer, baggier denim shorts—aka jorts—are sticking around for summer. The Chester Denim Short in their dark grey wash are a dream. I’ve styled mine with loafers and frilly socks for a spring-to-summer touch, but they’d pair just as well with western boots in winter or platform sandals in the height of summer. Bonus points for the Ariel Knitted Henley Sweater, a cosy piece with crochet detailing ideal for breezy summer nights. I’ve finished the look with the Max Joni Buckle Belt and Horse Clementine Bag in burgundy for a pop of colour—perfection!”

Georgia, Editorial & Marketing Assistant
“For me, crochet is synonymous with summer, so I was thrilled to see so many crochet options in the Elementary collection. While the three-piece coord was a close contender, the Sandy Crochet Detail Beach Dress stole my heart. It’s a true day-to-night piece: perfect for Christmas on the beach in Rarotonga with a bikini and jandals or dressed up for the evening with the Aqua Knitted Organic Cotton Cardi, the Horse Friday Bag, and heeled sandals. Versatility at its finest."
