Remix Reviews: Tommy Hilfiger Spring 2025 NYFW Show

“Iconic and a little unexpected,” says Tommy Hilfiger on his vision for this year’s New York Fashion Week showcase. And after last night’s Spring 2025 Ready-to-Wear show, we can confidently tip our Tommy hats to a job well done.

Steven Fernadez of Remix was one of the lucky fashion few to receive an invite, and with nautical stripes at the ready, he boarded the Tommy Hilfiger-fied ferry for a night to remember.

In signature all-American style, Hilfiger and his team transformed the decommissioned MV John F. Kennedy, a former Staten Island Ferry, into a floating runway. Now this should come as no surprise, after all, last year’s show at Grand Central’s Oyster Bar proved Hilfiger’s love for New York’s iconic landmarks. This year, however, the brand’s affiliation with The Big Apple took a step further as Hilfiger and co revisited the nautical and maritime archives that have inspired the brand since 1985. “Today, it’s updated and remixed for 2025: the look has the ease of effortless summer style, but with a confidence that feels ready to step off the ferry and back into the city”, says Hilfiger.

With views of the Brooklyn and Manhattan Bridges as our backdrop, we set sail and strapped in for a quintessential red, white and blue evening, but not without a few surprises.

Model Mona Tougaard opened the show, dressed in soft yet smart, tailored checked pieces, inspired by the comfort of the captain’s quarters. Checks remained a core element throughout the collection, lending themselves to capri pants, floor-sweeping trench coats and dresses, yacht shorts and button-up shirts —all in the classic Tommy colour palette.

However, it wasn’t long before Tommy’s iconic Breton stripes reared their heads. In keeping with the night's theme and collection, we welcomed an array of fisherman knits with signature stripes in tow. From block navy with white piping on the chest and cuff to more statement alternatives where red and navy sleeves contrasted with a white body base and navy stripes, this season, Tommy has adopted a more modern feel to classic bases, offering a generous dose of refreshing newness.

This ethos extended to utility pants and button-downs, designed to be light and fluid, crafted from crinkled cotton, deep v-neck polo dresses and shirts adorned with the iconic TH on the chest and form-fitting capri pants and crop cardigans. Dare we say this show brought an unexpected touch of sexiness—a quality rarely linked to the brand yet seamlessly woven into its signature style and aesthetic.

Where there’s Tommy, there’s preppiness and, in true blue fashion, the catwalk played host to a wide array of varsity classics and all-American wardrobe staples. For spring, recognisable v-neck cricket-style sweaters welcomed a dramatic crop to the hem, paired with relaxed, double pleated yacht shorts and slip-on mules or chinos saw a wide turn-up, revealing a contrasting coloured stripe, styled with raffia baseball caps where nautical chunky rope TH monograms featured.

Attendees mimicked the show’s purposefully relaxed yet put-together perfection feel - with the likes of Brooke Shields, Jisoo, Felix, Damson Idris and former Remix cover star, Madelyn Cline, dressed in head-to-toe Tommy. As echoes of ‘Felix’ cascaded throughout the ferry, the Stray Kids and Tommy Hilfiger campaign star took his place on the front row, donning a pinstripe suit two-piece and two-tone cricket sweater.

Hilfiger promised the unexpected, and he delivered—a surprise performance by Staten Island’s own Wu-Tang Clan. Ghostface Killah, Method Man, and Raekwon jumped up from the ferry benches, performing their hit "C.R.E.A.M." Remix attendee Steven Fernandez captured the energy perfectly: “I’ve never seen people rush to the stage like that when Wu-Tang Clan paid the ultimate Staten Island tribute.”

“The amazing thing is that for all these years as a leader in American fashion, Tommy’s vision and designs feel just as inspired as they always have been, just as exciting alongside the fleets of new designers alongside him at NYFW”, says Steven.

Much like the Brooklyn Bridge, the Staten Island Ferry, or a slice of pizza from Louie & Ernie’s, Tommy Hilfiger is woven into the very fabric of New York. His brand is a symbol of the city’s enduring style—iconic, timeless, and undeniably New York. With every collection, Hilfiger continues to celebrate and redefine what it means to be a part of this vibrant metropolis.
