Donielle Brooke tells her story as a fashion e-commerce Girl Boss in the 21st Century
The future is female! So Remix in partnership with Converse, set out to ask some of the countries powerful ladies making waves in their own right how they feel navigating ‘girldom’ in the 21st century. The goal was to find showcase the progress of women as a collective force in today’s society. By championing the underdog and the ultimate antihero - the female - the Converse ‘Love The Progress’ collection works to celebrate women and redefine what GIRL really means.
Over the last five years, fashion e-commerce Queen, Donielle Brooke, has turned a simple solution to medical bills into an Australasian marketplace success. When diagnosed with Thyroid cancer at age 25, Donielle originally started Designer Wardrobe to sell her own second-hand designer items to keep up with the cost of treatment. Over the years this ‘solution’ grew into a nationwide community most young kiwi women know and love.
“I think it’s really cool how females are problem solvers. They just kind of think on their feet and make that next move to figure out the solution. I had a medical issue, got creative and thought of a way to support that while I was going through it.”
“I think when my story got out there in the media about how Designer Wardrobe was created it was really special I had so many women over the years reach out to me and kind of say that they've felt inspired by that and have created a business of their own.”
“A quote that I love to live by as a woman in the 21st century is ‘She believed she could, so she did.’”
