Valentine’s Day give you the ick? Welcome to the perfect party playlists for all our platonic pals

Ah, Valentine’s Day. Some people love it. Others wish they could be locked in a windowless, wifiless room for the day, far away from the smell of roses and public declarations of love. Passion and PDA aren’t on the menu for everyone this coming love day, but why not celebrate anyways in a slightly less conventional way?

For all the jaded lovers and satirical singles out there, Spotify is sharing their top data trends that reveal the most popular songs featured in Anti-Valentine’s Day playlists across the globe - and they kinda go off. From the biggest break-up hits to some simply savage sing-alongs, being single on V-Day is quite obviously being celebrated among the masses this year. The spotify data team found that there are:

  • 1.1 million Valentine playlists globally
  • 28 thousand Galentine playlists
  • 870 thousand Break Up playlists
  • 9 thousand Anti-Valentine playlists

Seems like the love in the air is proving pungent for quite a few. Refrain from smelling the roses this V-Day and, instead, listen to some Anti-Valentine's Day tunes to get you out of your love day rut.

Whether you're celebrating Galentine’s Day, Palentine’s Day or (the oh-so-iconic) Anti-Valentine’s Day, don't spend the 14th of Feb alone this year. Buy yourself some chocolate, put on your dancing shoes and get your pals over for a boogie or two - no S/O’s allowed!
