Words by Chelsea Armitage. The Auckland Pride Parade returns to Ponsonby Road on this Saturday at a brand new time - it will now be held at sunset! Over fourty groups will represent the Rainbow Community in the parade, which runs Northbound from Western Park to Three Lamps at the bottom of Ponsonby Road in Auckland. With fifteen more floats than previous years and a longer running time of 90 minutes it’s set to be a fabulous evening! The theme for this year’s celebration is time; focusing on the past, present and future of diversity in our beautiful country. Entertainment starts from 4pm and the parade kicks off at 7pm. The liquor ban in the area will be enforced, but never fear! Arrive early and set yourself up in one of the fabulous bars and restaurants along Ponsonby Road for some pre-parade refreshments. Most of the parking in Ponsonby will close at 4pm so save yourself the hassle of parking miles away and check out Maxx for public transport timetables. Regular Saturday services will be running. Head over to the official website for more information.
