Iconic Auckland Eats Unveils Their Top 100 Dishes

After months of considering passionate local submissions, Iconic Auckland Eats have revealed their highly anticipated 2024 list of Auckland’s top 100 dishes.

Every year, the initiative by Tātaki Auckland Unlimited accepts submissions by locals to create a list that aptly reflects the skill, multiculturalism, and passion within the region’s cuisine scene. The list has established itself as a comprehensive guide to Auckland food, including fine dining as well as cheap and cheerful dishes.

The submissions, of which there were 1800 this year, are available to read on the competition’s website, each telling a story of a local’s personal experience with the dish. Asher Newman’s review of Culprit’s “Ugly Carrot” represents the spirit of the list quite nicely: “This playful dish is a lot like Auckland itself – a mix of cultures all chillin' together, making something better by coming together”.

Many Remix favourites have unsurprisingly made their way onto the list, including Bivacco’s Margherita Pizza, Three Seven Two’s Crispy Fried Eggplant, and Mulan’s Char Koay Teow. The crowd favourite Fish Sliders from Depot have made it onto the list for the fourth year in a row, while many are celebrating their first year being recognised by the initiative.
