Under the microscope with Kérastase's new AI technology
For better or worse, as AI technology becomes more integrated into our lives, it’s now being used in salons to help stylists assess hair and scalp health. Leading this innovation, Kérastase has developed the K-Scan, a cutting-edge tool, with Rodney Wayne among the first salons worldwide to introduce this genuinely exciting technology in-store. WHAT TO EXPECT?
The K-Scan is a professional-grade scanning device that analyses hair at a very close level. During the consultation, the device takes three images using UV light, White light and Cross-Polarised light — with scientific measurement tools. As your hairstylist is scanning your hair, you’ll be able to experience the diagnostic process through your stylist’s eyes on a tablet. Once the photographs are complete and have been analysed by the technology, you’ll get a score out of 100, which tells you the overall condition of your scalp and a breakdown of what needs improving and what parts of your scalp and hair are healthy. The final step is a treatment plan, where the AI recommends a range of products to help improve the condition of your hair and scalp. Talk about using technology for the better.
