How to contour, made easy! Must try tips from a Smashbox Pro Artist

Screen Shot 2015-09-23 at 11.11.17 am The new celebrity and red carpet secret to great make up is highlighting and contouring. A highlighted face looks as if the skin is lit from within, no matter the angle. It allows you to define your bone structure while minimizing flaws and it gives you a simply glowing complexion. For those that don't know the first thing about applying highlighter, worry no more! Smashbox Pro Artist, Sam Hart, gives us some inside tips below... What are the basic strobing techniques and what actually is strobing? Strobing is a technique used to create highlights and definition on the face without the need of contouring. Using just highlighter and blush will give you an illuminated, glowing complexion. After primer, foundation and concealer, apply your highlight on the top of your cheekbones. Also add on the bridge of the nose, cupids bow and brow bone. This will highlight your most prominent features and sculpt the face. Be careful not to apply it on the area underneath the eyes though as it will look cakey. Also add a touch under the arch of the brow. What are some key products needed for strobing? I love new LA Lights for strobing, it's easy to use and gives the perfect amount of illumination. Pro-tip: For best use, apply straight from the highlighting stick and blend out with your fingers using patting motions. Don’t rub it in as this will move your foundation, just gently pat to blend. Another product I use for strobing is the Halo Highlighting Wand in Pearl, which I mix into my foundation for a glowing complexion. Pro Tip: Spritz Photo Finish Primer Water last, to keep you skin looking dewy and youthful. Head here for more.
