Inside the Remix Winter Innovation edition with Jasmine Tookes

Welcome to the New Era of Innovation.

These days innovation strikes in all manner of ways. It’s not so much about making breakthrough discoveries as it is about each individual making hay while the sun shines. In cover star and long-time model Jasmine Tookes' case, she saw an opening within the fashion industry that grew from a labour of love project while sharing gym moments with her best friend on social media.

As she confessed in our interview (alongside a must-know life hack that involves ice cubes) her activewear business venture is not to be her last, with multiple new fashion launches in the pipeline. It makes sense, given she knows a thing or two about fashion, having modelled for over 15 years. In our exclusive shoot (shot by the amazing Dennis Leupold in L.A) Tookes proved why her foothold in the industry is so strong; sporting Balenciaga and Versace gowns, dramatic Gucci and ballerina-esque Coach skirts, Dolce & Gabbana lace ensembles, Saint Laurent scarves, Mulberry bags (and nothing else) and Swarvoski jewels with flair.

If the innovative digital age has brought the world anything, it’s brought opportunity. Moments of gold can be seized any time, anywhere. Like Kiwi F1 Reserve Driver Liam Lawson, who excitedly explained to us, how he is on the verge of taking the driver's seat, literally, or the talented local beauty Alex King set to dominate the entertainment industry and perhaps fashion world too. Modernism flourishes throughout this issue, from the Accidental Influencer who matches her fits to furniture, to the local-tribe honoured marine biologist protecting the Amazon’s endangered river dolphins with his relentless research - these are the individuals redefining innovation in 2024.

There’s no shortage of enthralling conversations inside: alongside Tookes, you’ll find interviews with actress Anne Hathaway and her on screen lover and Hollywood’s latest heart throb Nicholas Galitzine who might we add, admits he channelled Harry Styles in their new flick. Plus everyone’s favourite award-winning screen Zaddy Pedro Pascal.

Fashion boasts the wavemakers of the digital realm; intriguing conversations detail the luxurious life of fashion blogger pioneer Camelia Farhoodi, the clever costume designer behind controversial film Saltburn details the ‘why’ behind those iconic character wardrobes, a playful shoot with the talented Alex King beckons a winter drobe, while Gen Z wild card Accidental Influencer explains how she fell into her unique method of dressing to her environment.

In Luxury, you’ll be double-taking at an exclusive high jewellery shoot and the coveted must-haves that are topping wish lists around the globe. Plus, Dolce Vita meets dark bride in a swirling tale of sensual style for an accessory shoot that shines through the veil. From contrast therapy, to hygge, Wellness embraces holistic health with a warm-up hit list of new health habits. Plus say hello to the weird and wacky side of wellness where you’ll get clued up on sleep tourism, rucking, psychedelic therapy and ‘spiritual hygiene’.

Cuisine continues to tempt tastebuds with drool worthy pasta recipes, the new hotspots in the Auckland culinary circuit and a sit-down at Chef’s Table; the inner workings of New Zealand’s top chefs. From cowboy-inspired Byron Bay ranches to luxurious rooftop pool hotels in L.A, Lifestyle will have you planning vacays abroad and staycays closeby to fill each calendar month. With the best in luxury travel outlined for 2024, and how best to travel there in style.

Beauty reveals what’s in the Remix team's shopping cart this winter, how to achieve ageless beauty (the hunt for the holy grail continues) and the practical products we’re using for salon-ready hair at home. Become a textbook Gentlemen in the men’s section, with winter wardrobe inspiration that talks to British dress codes, Tokyo-drip, and how to pull off the Jacob Elordi man-bag. Plus a beautifully haunting menswear shoot that’ll have you heading to the beach in winter.

While Design tells you to take a seat in style, as 50 shades of chocolate has you reaching for cocoa-toned furniture, while beguiling artworks worthy of your wall space call to be commissioned. Plus, encourage rainbows of colour into every space as Design Muse of the issue, L.A contemporary artist Kim DeJesus explains the prominence of pigmentation.
