Discover the Remix Escapism issue with cover star Gwen Stefani

Upon us are the year’s most glorious months, where sun-soaked days lead to sandy beaches, and celebration is imminent. Looking back on another year of tenacity and resilience, Remix’s summer escapism issue offers a blueprint for reset and renewal.

With the utterly iconic Gwen Stefani on the cover of this issue, it feels like a very fortuitous return to Remix’s musical roots; to have someone grace the cover of this issue whose legacy has defined the musical tenure of this magazine. I remember, at 10 years old, saving my pocket money to purchase my own L.A.M.B. CD—it was such a poignant moment in the pop culture vernacular that Steven Fernandez has managed to perfectly encapsulate in his intimate and honest conversation with the Grammy Award-winning star. Gwen’s eloquent and self-aware approach to fame is reflected elsewhere in this issue, such as my conversation with Hollywood scream queen Samara Weaving, who, among being announced as the latest Bvlgari ambassador, reminds me that escapism is a very useful tool for self-soothing, and is a notion that doesn’t always have to look the same.

In exclusive interviews with our team, Troye Sivan & Steele Mellet suggest that sometimes escapism can be to a familiar place; we can find solace in the crevices of our homes, while Keli Holiday shows us how the idea may translate to hedonism in such a showstopping sense. And, of course, we also had to include a swoony Paul Mescal in some very short shorts for our readers ahead of the much-anticipated Gladiator II premiere.

But alongside its host of celebrities, this summer reminds us that we can also find escapism in the everyday—through the choices of clothing we wear. Our luxury shoot heroes timeless, covetable pieces that feel like an escape in themselves, while elsewhere, our editors flock to the beaches of Omaha, and join Shayne Tino and Lakota Johnson in Sydney for a reminder that the best summers are almost always sandy. And what kind of issue would it be without insight from the runway, in an exclusive conversation with Tommy Hilfiger after his stunning SS25 show at New York Fashion Week, alongside a blockbuster Runway Report as Remix Founder Tim Phin finds himself front row at Milan Fashion Week.

Beyond conversations and style digests, in this issue, our editors take you through everything you need to get through the months ahead. We offer you guides and insights on summer dining and holiday hosting, from tablescaping to essential eating, new beauty and wellbeing rituals we’re trying for the new year, the must-attend events of the season, and a raft of travel inspiration for destinations near and far. Plus, discover the ultimate holiday gift guide as the celebration season looms.

When I first accepted the offer to join the Remix masthead, it was immediately clear that I would have large and very chic shoes to fill. But over the course of this last issue, it has been a joy to fold into such a tremendously visionary, autonomous and very beautiful team. I hope you, our readers, find as much joy as I have in the latest issue—and that the pages offer a little escapism for the sunnier days ahead.

Charles Bowden famously said, ‘Summertime is always the best of what might be, and with this latest issue, we’re inclined to agree.
