For a second year, Kiwi fashion pioneer Karen Walker partners with Fiji’s non-profit organisation, Rise Beyond the Reef, to celebrate the talent and traditions of rural Indigenous women. This ongoing collaboration brings their craftsmanship to life in a capsule collection of handwoven totes and backpacks. Each piece is made entirely by hand—from harvesting and bundling to wrapping and weaving—all crafted with a deep reverence for the art. Last month, Walker visited the village to experience the process firsthand, immersing herself in the strong sense of community behind each creation. "I watched the women gather in the community hall to craft these beautiful pieces.
