What's new at Queenstown's The Lodge Bar
Everyone knows you don’t go to the snow to ski, ok, and although it may be the powder capital of New Zealand, there’s much more to Queenstown than just snow. With a myriad of boutique resorts, world-class restaurants and glam spa experiences, this lakeside town needn’t be forgotten in the summertime. Don’t believe us? Visit Rodd and Gunn’s watering hole, The Lodge Bar, and you’ll see how seamlessly this town, and bar, segues effortlessly through the seasons. Channelling alpine chic, everything about the space makes you want to nestle in for a long time, and a good time.
But if the chic decor isn’t enough to entice you, we know it’s decadent new Summer menu will. Set to be a fan favourite, the Pork Chop has been respected to the nth degree; brined for 6 hours with imparting notes of citrus and hand herbs, before being roasted and finally topped with sage compound butter and pickled peppers. It’s surprisingly elegant, with a bit of innovation…
Sharing plates continue to take centre stage, with charcuterie, cheese and share platters all making an appearance on the menu and completed with welcome embellishments. Delicate, precise cooking is showcased throughout the menu, and there truly is something for all tastes. Love a classic? You’re not going to want to pass up the ‘Gunner’s Game Pie’, which sees wild rabbit, hare and venison combined and baked in house pastry. If you’re after something fresher, the raw kingfish served with bonito cream, soy poached shiitake and compressed cucumber is set to satisfy your cravings.
The Lodge Bar and Dining is set to open end of March, which will mark a milestone for Rodd & Gunn and the bar.
