The Remix rundown on the week’s top fashion and lifestyle news

Everything fashion and lifestyle were loving this week!

More is more with the BLUNT X Mister Mort Limited Edition umbrella
From a recent resurgence on the runway to its long-standing chapter in fashion history, checks and tartans remain among style’s most enduring prints—immortalised by the likes of Vivienne Westwood and Alexander McQueen. Now, this storied motif takes on new life in the hands of BLUNT and New York fashion documentarian Mordechai Rubinstein (aka Mister Mort) for the umbrella brand’s latest—and arguably greatest—limited-edition release. Rubinstein, otherwise known as Mister Mort, is well known and loved for his street style photography, particularly for capturing the 'beauty in the everyday uniform'. Inspired by his love of vintage fabrics, the canopy design is a collage of shirts and blazers—some from Rubinstein’s own wardrobe—photographed, layered, and reassembled into a patchwork of tweed, plaid, houndstooth and florals. The result is a striking love letter to fashion’s greats and to the offbeat pairings that define true personal style.

SOPHIE beckons summer with its newest collection

Since introducing its apparel just two years ago, SOPHIE has already established itself as a standout in the realm of womenswear and accessories in the New Zealand fashion scene, and its upcoming Spring/Summer collection is a testament to its prowess. For its upcoming collection, SOPHIE revisits its effortless ready-to-wear aesthetic, this time reimagined in lightweight fabrics and soft summer hues. SOPHIE's Spring/Summer collection is versatile, with every piece designed for movement, ease and longevity. Wearers will see fan favourites such as the ‘Love this Top’ in newer shades, alongside some brand-new pieces, including the ‘Go to Top’ and ‘Effortless Pants’. Alongside apparel, SOPHIE unveils the ‘Everyday classics’ jewellery edit—an area where the brand never disappoints. This edit continues to show what SOPHIE does best: subtle statement pieces that immediately elevate a look. Accessories include the new ‘bring it bag’, a playful but practical woven tote, and the returning ‘so relaxed sun hat’. Summer never looked so stylish.

Silk & Steel presents Supernova
Silk & Steel has released their newest collection, and it's nothing short of dazzling. But then again, what do we expect from one of New Zealand's most treasured jewellery labels? Titled Supernova, this collection delivers attitude and impact. Inspired by rock-glam energy, Supernova showcases punchy yet versatile designs—perfect for wearers who want to make a statement in their everyday life. Arrows and star motifs are central to the collection, while pearls, gemstones, and rounded domes offer a softer take on edgier styles. The bold silhouettes showcased in this collection can be worn separately or stacked for a maximalist look. Supernova was created to be styled your way.

The spirit of the outback lives on
When you think of R.M.Williams, leather, fine craftsmanship and enduring quality quickly spring to mind, and while all of those ring true, we’d be remiss to overlook one of the most iconic images in the brand’s history: stockman Dick White riding the legendary horse Cloudbuster at the Carrieton Rodeo in the 1950s. That singular, impressive feat earned pride of place in R.M. Williams campaigns for decades, personifying the individuality, strength, and spirit that remain at the brand’s core. Today, it’s forever immortalised in the new Cloudbuster Collection—a capsule that strikes a harmonious balance between heritage and modern-day sensibility. Graphic tees, trucker jackets, and patch-pocket jeans are joined by Western-inflected accessories—bandanas, trophy buckle belts, and Akubra hats—while authentic materials, including leather, suede, and waxed denim, reinforce the brand’s unwavering commitment to longevity.

Your new go-to spot on Springs Road

Hidden in Onehunga’s industrial corner, The Springs Tavern is quickly becoming our go-to before going to the game or enjoying a few aperols with the girls. The sun deck is great for after-work drinks, and the modern pub vibes don’t disappoint. The menu has all the classics, from seafood to tacos, but our top picks are the mushroom stone-baked pizza and the chicken Caesar salad—so worth it. With summer coming up, we’re guessing this spot will get even busier.
