The Black Banquet at The Social Kitchen™ by Fisher & Paykel

Restaurant Month is always an exciting time for food-lovers, with over 100 dining offers and events at over 100 restaurants. However, probably the coolest part about this year’s event is the addition of The Social Kitchen™ Theatre by Fisher & Paykel who have joined the lineup for the first time. 

The Social Kitchen™  has jumped into Restaurant Month with both feet, and brought the festival to the streets, creating 21 pop-up experiences in Britomart’s Takutai Square from 19 to 21 August. The café-style space will host cooking demonstrations, masterclasses and skills sessions with top-restaurant chefs and well-known foodies. So far there have been smoothie-making classes, pasta cooking classes and classes on how to make healthy pancakes to come over the weekend!

Just last night The Social Kitchen™ hosted an exclusive dinner party, the Black Banquet.Featuring creations by Giapo Grazioli, the mastermind behind the gelato store Giapo on Queen Street, and Gareth Stewart from Soul Bar and Bistro, the evening boasted a black-themed menu and dress code and also featured some fresh new talent in the kitchen with students from Otago Polytechnic’s Food Design Institute.
