Newmarket’s serene new storefronts: Aesop and Lonely

Newmarket has long been one of Auckland’s hotspots for retail. That’s why two of the precincts newest openings are such a welcome breath of fresh air; they bring a new level of serenity to the area. Shoppers can duck out of the hustle and bustle of Broadway into the new stores of two brands renowned for their peaceful spaces – Aesop and Lonely.

Aesop is known for its stunning spaces across the world, with this opening marking their first store in New Zealand. The rustic interior is reminiscent of a classic Kiwi bach, with recycled Rimu lining the walls. Large windows let natural light flood in, creating an easy, airy ambience.

Lonely’s space is more lush. It is a slightly more luxurious, feminie take on the brand’s minimalistic Ponsonby and Wellington locations. In classic Lonely fashion, the unassuming storefront leaves plenty to the imagination. Upon entering, shoppers will find themselves in a dreamy space shrouded in pink light, complete with navy upholstered furniture and brass hardware.
