Introducing Jacuzzi, the much-awaited Ponsonby Road restaurant in an iconic address
A new lease on life has arrived at one of Ponsonby Road’s most iconic addresses, just in time to catch those last days of summer. Welcome to Jacuzzi—a place with a history ready to make new memories. We think it’s the perfect spot to unwind, reconnect and immerse in culture from all across the globe.
Familiar faces in the restaurant scene, Bronwyn and Jess Payne from Elmo’s and Hoppers Garden Bar, have taken over the once-great SPQR, blending their signature fun vibe with a fresh take on food to create something truly special.

Bathe in the al fresco of it all, and explore the revamped food and drinks menu, offering playful cocktails and signature drinks—think viral bubble cocktails and seriously sumptuous dirty martinis. There’s plates for any occasion and mood, with bold, punchy, inventive flavours to nibble on, or hearty sharing plates for everyone to tuck into. Food-wise, expect to find oysters and caviar served fresh from the cold bar, or larger plates like lamb ribs and labneh or a line-caught Hapuka schnitzel—the latter of which is seriously delicious. The menu channels global flavours with a Kiwi twist, tweaked to highlight the best of our local ingredients, prepared in inventive, exciting new ways.

Walking in, you’ll be greeted by Derek the Diver, a striking art piece encased in water and one of five worldwide, created by designer Timothy Oulton. It’s installed among fresh new decor, all designed and picked by the sisters themselves. They’ve kept iconic cornerstones like the copper bar, but tied them in with exciting new additions to keep the OG spirit alive but refreshed, including the memorable bathrooms. The establishment is truly a love letter to what has been, and a step into the future of Ponsonby’s dining scene.
