From Hollywood to the Highlands: Harrison Ford’s Glenmorangie Journey
There’s something undeniably cinematic about the Highlands of Scotland – the sweeping landscapes, the misty lochs, the storied castles. Add Harrison Ford to the mix, and you’ve got an irresistible whisky tale in the making. Glenmorangie has launched its most engaging campaign yet, starring none other than the Hollywood icon himself. And in true Ford fashion, it’s anything but conventional.
Directed by Australian filmmaker Joel Edgerton, the campaign–titled 'Once Upon a Time in Scotland' is a playful, behind-the-scenes journey through the craft and culture of Glenmorangie’s whisky-making tradition. The series follows Ford as he immerses himself in the Scotland’s Highland, from mastering the art of Scottish pronunciation to sharing a dram with the locals. With a mix of authenticity and off-the-cuff humor, the episodes capture the essence of what makes Glenmorangie so captivating.
Shot in the breathtaking north-east Highlands, the campaign showcases the historic Glenmorangie Distillery in Tain, the picturesque 19th-century Ardross Castle, and the dramatic landscapes of Loch Glass. It’s a love letter to both the whisky and the place that creates it, wrapped up in Ford’s effortlessly charming storytelling.
For Glenmorangie, the decision to collaborate with Ford was a natural one. “We’re thrilled to bring whisky aficionados our new unconventional campaign,” says Lisa Mackenzie, General Manager of Moët Hennessy New Zealand. “Harrison Ford is a genuine single malt whisky fan, and his passion for storytelling has brought a unique authenticity to this project.”
Ford himself found joy in the unexpected moments of the shoot. “The whole process was full of unanticipated joys – little unexpected moments,” he shares. “It’s a tribute to Glenmorangie’s sensibilities that they let us be less than totally serious. What Joel has produced has a certain charm to it because it’s unpretentious and just amusing.”
The campaign launch coincides with the re-introduction of Glenmorangie’s ‘The Original’, which is now 12 years old and is swirling with creamy vanilla, bright citrus, honey, and peach. This reimagined single malt elevates the classic profile to new heights.
And for those with a taste for the exquisite, Glenmorangie has also reimagined its award-winning 18-year-old whisky. Now named Glenmorangie Infinita 18 Years Old, this expression boasts a luxurious new look while maintaining its elegant floral notes, honeyed depths, and subtle spice. Dr. Bill Lumsden, the mastermind behind Glenmorangie’s creations, calls it “the most complex and beautifully balanced whisky” in their portfolio.
