Remix team member, Esther, collaborated with the kitchen manufacturing experts from Mood to create her dream kitchen. She gives us a glimpse into the renovation process...
The kitchen was always going to be at the heart of our urban escape. I’m passionate about cooking and we love to entertain, so when my husband Matt and I were initially planning our home renovation, I was confident that if we started by creating the kitchen of our dreams, the rest of the project would follow suit.
We wanted to achieve a fresh energy with minimalist and architectural lines, but still create something with character. Connecting the inside living with our leafy and secluded outlook was also high on our list of priorities, a list that James, co-owner and head designer of Mood, was able to turn into a 3D drawing within days of getting a feel for our vision at our first consultation.
A week later, we were back at Mood to collaboratively finesse the design. James’ objective at this meeting was to ensure that we were fully involved in finalising the layout, rearranging certain aspects of the space, and fine tuning the look. From the moment that Matt and I walked into the Mood showroom, our hearts were set on the walnut ply finish display, which made deciding on the finish very easy for us. With James’ guidance, we then worked on balancing the walnut with the other textures and colours in our palate on the 3D render.
Fast forward a few months, and Mood had crafted our cabinetry in their Onehunga workshop and delivered it to our address, where their friendly team finished our kitchen. The result was an expertly crafted and beautifully designed space. It’s everything we dreamed of, and Mood made the process such an enjoyable experience.
