Our top picks of Bali's most breathtaking bars
Offering luxurious accommodation, idyllic beaches, and some of the best nightlife in the world, Bali has quickly become one of the most popular travel destinations for Kiwis and Aussies alike. With more bars than shots we can handle in one night, it is really difficult to pick the top five spots to wet your whistle at when you’re next visiting Bali. We came, we saw, we tasted - check out our top picks of Bali's idyllic bars.
1. Motel Mexicola
Situated between the coconut trees in Seminyak lives the vibrant oasis of Motel Mexicola. Swamped in a kaleidoscope of colour, this Central American inspired bar is the best way to start an epic night. The frozen Margarita comes highly recommended for a reasonably priced beverage, and make sure you down five of them before you let the waiters hoist you up onto the tables for la Macarena!
2. Old Mans
This beachfront beer garden is the perfect place to enjoy a classic Balinese Bintang. Located on the Batu Bolong beach of Canggu, the vibe is young, hip and laid back. Both locals and tourists are made to feel welcome, and if you find yourself here on a Wednesday or a Saturday night you’ll get to experience a booze-filled beer pong tournament followed by DJ sets from a variety of DJs to really let your hair down.
3. Ayana Rock Bar
If ocean views and dramatic scenery are essential during your time in Bali, then Ayana Resort’s Rock Bar needs to be top of your list. Order one of the signature cocktails designed by international bar consultant Sebastien Bonnefoi as you watch the waves tumble into the coral reef. The display of aquatics is one of the most picturesque scenes we have seen and we couldn’t recommend this bar enough!
4. Single Fin
Perched on a clifftop facing Uluwatu’s glassy waters, this bar is exactly where you want to end your week. With stunning views, a mouthwatering menu and a renowned Sunday session dance party, Single Fin is your all-in-one stop for the Kiwi traveller. Try one of the local Bali ciders here, and be sure to stop back in here the next morning for a Nalu Bowl hangover cure. Yum!
5. La Plancha
This beachy bar takes out the final spot on our list. With colourful beanbags and umbrellas as far as the eye can see there couldn’t be a more ideal (or comfortable) place to relax with a drink in hand while you soak up the sunset.
