Storm Opens In Australia
Words by Anabela Rea.
Storm is expanding its empire by going across the ditch. This July the New Zealand fashion label is opening its first boutique on Melbourne's Chapel Street.
Now in its eighth year of business, Storm was born out of founder Deborah Caldwell's vision to fill the gap in the Kiwi fashion market with a brand that bridged the gap between chain store and designer apparel.
Storm's design philosophy has always been to design on-trend pieces, with a classic longevity, a broad approach with international appeal.
The expansion across the ditch is the latest in a long line of successful moves for Storm, which has proven popular among New Zealand women thanks to stylish, contemporary pieces that arrive in-store weekly and are available at reasonable prices.
“You don’t have to sell a kidney to afford [our pieces],” says founder Deborah Caldwell.
“There’s no point in opening in Australia and wondering whether it will work. It will work – I don’t think any other way!”
