In store now at Zambesi: Raf Simons' creative collab collection with Sterling Ruby

Words by Camille Krishna. This season Zambesi is hosting the Autumn/Winter 2014 collection by Raf Simons, which is a collaboration between the designer and Los Angeles based artist Sterling Ruby. The inspiration behind the collection was from Simons' teenage nostalgia, a throwback to our generation’s teenage years, which for Simons included sewing patches of his favourite bands onto his clothing. Simons and Ruby’s collection features words in addition to patches. The word ‘fathers’, mixed with galactic patches on bombers and sweaters, displays Simons' teenage nostalgia on a timeless black canvas. Prints of stretched out hands splattered orange and yellow dye define the collection’s mix of art and fashion. The Autumn/Winter 2014 RAF SIMONS X STIRLING RUBY collection is available now at Zambesi, 56 Tyler Street, Auckland and Zambesi, 107 Customhouse Quay, Wellington.
