NZFW Cybele

By Flora Cheng After a break from the NZ Fashion Week catwalk last year Cybele returned to NZFW, reminding us why she is one of the most sought after fashion brands in the industry. Her winter 2013 'Nocturne' collection echoed the timeless femininity yet directional aesthetic of the Cybele brand. Her vision for 'Nocturne' shows that she's not distracted by the obvious trends of the season, instead setting her own by mixing and matching different textures and detailing. The show opened with a colour palate of black and dark grey before injecting a soft blush, silver and cobalt blue, giving the collection that extra bold and graphic edge. Distinctive signature prints featured with a favourite being the cobalt blue mirrored-rose print motif seen on the hips of a black 50s style dress with the shoe-string straps and cutout detailing. Other features included leather bags, the striking use of wool, both long free-flowing and structured dresses, spider-wed like cutouts and off the shoulder detailing. Cybele also showed-off her skill of combining soft and hard material in dressed with innovative cutouts and hard plastic detailing on the collar.
