For the first time in history, the National Gallery of Victoria has an official timepiece partner

For the first time in history, the National Gallery of Victoria has selected its inaugural timepiece partner—a brand synonymous with the pursuit of excellence, creativity and innovation, Rolex. The news marks a defining moment for both parties: for Rolex, it’s an expansion of its Perpetual Arts Initiative into Australia, while the NGV, Australia’s oldest and most visited public gallery, continues its evolution as a global cultural destination. This new alliance represents a seamless integration of two icons in their respective fields—Rolex, renowned for its world-class precision and unparalleled craftsmanship in watchmaking, and the NGV, a beacon of artistic innovation and design. And it signifies for anyone visiting the Victorian destination over the coming months, the beginning of something very excellent.

While a significant milestone, the announcement shouldn’t be a surprise—Rolex’s commitment to culture and the arts is not new. For more than 50 years, the brand has proudly stood at the intersection of luxury and artistic achievement, supporting world-leading institutions, visionary artists, and cultural initiatives across the globe through its Perpetual Arts Initiative. The initiative itself is a testament to Rolex’s dedication to maintaining excellence in the world of horology and perpetuating the global cultural legacy. This partnership with the NGV is the next step in a long line of collaborations with some of the most esteemed names in art, music, and architecture.

Benoit Falletti, Managing Director of Rolex Australia, shared his excitement for this milestone with us. ‘Rolex has an ambitious and authentic approach to its support of the arts, creating deep and lasting connections within the global arts community,’ he said. ‘The NGV stands as one of Australia’s truly significant cultural organisations.’

In practice, this partnership will offer visitors to the NGV a rare look at Rolex’s horological expertise. Iconic Rolex clocks, each displaying the brand’s hallmark engineering and design, will be displayed exclusively in Federation Court at NGV International and in the ground-floor foyer at The Ian Potter Centre: NGV Australia.

With the NGV’s commitment to fostering creativity and Rolex’s dedication to cultural excellence, this partnership promises to be a landmark moment in Australia’s cultural history—a celebration of the past, the present, and the future, all rolled into one.
