Beyond Boundaries with Emporio Armani

For his Spring 2025 Ready-to-Wear showcase in Milan, long-revered designer Giorgio Armani offered a masterful nod to the past, channelling the iconic 1990s Emporio woman as the focal point of his Milan Fashion Week mood board. The key inspiration? A striking image of model Bekah Jenkins, captured by Tom Munro, in a sleek suit with slicked-back hair and tie. This visual not only set the tone for the runway but encapsulated the collection's ethos—gender roles? Who needs them?

Among the fashion elite was Remix founder Tim Phin, taking his seat to witness a Milanese masterclass in sartorial fluidity.

As the first models took to the runway, Armani's narrative unfolded through soft, head-to-toe tailoring in pale grey hues. Slouchy silk ties hung loosely around necks, windowpane checks graced single and double-breasted blazers, while masculine-cut trousers were paired with a "we mean business" attitude. Provocative yet polished, Armani deftly balanced his signature feminine allure with a contemporary, gender-neutral aesthetic, elegantly merging masculinity and femininity in a way only he can.

Nostalgia was a key theme throughout the show. Tapered, carrot, and harem-style pants—high-waisted and cinched with leather belts—nodded to 90s archival workwear. The 90s revival continued as suiting made way for a series of iridescent looks that conjured memories of Pretty Woman’s Rodeo Drive era. From shimmering teals to bold fuchsias, a kaleidoscope of colours appeared in babydoll dresses, silky pyjama-style ensembles, flowing blouses, and tailored cardigan-esque jackets. Armani even reinterpreted the sheer trend dominating recent catwalks in New York and Copenhagen, introducing delicately embroidered lilac skirts and dresses. Wide-brim hats, headscarves, sunglasses, and earrings all contributed to the monochromatic precision, further enhancing the polished, matchy-matchy aesthetic.

As the show neared its finale, Armani returned to the effortlessly chic evening wear for which the brand is beloved. Models donned sequin-encrusted tailored pants paired with breezy white shirts—a playful yet refined combination that underscored the collection’s fluidity.

As the final notes of the evening faded, the event space erupted in heartfelt applause, a chorus of admiration for the man of the hour as Mr. Armani graced the stage. Joined by his creative team—Leo Dell'Orco, Silvana Armani, Nicola Lamorgese, and Marco Brunello—their collective pride was palpable, reflecting the dedication and artistry that had brought the Spring 2025 collection to life.

With spirits high, the celebration continued long into the night, as the Emporio Armani after party got underway. Just a hop, skip and strut away from the catwalk, Tim and friends got into the groove to a soundtrack of guilty pleasures, including Madonna and Moloko. DJ and musician Wolfram Amadeus soon took to the decks, sporting his kitsch "I Love Mr Armani" t-shirt, while front row-attendees such as Khalid, Zee Pruk, and Olympians soaked in the atmosphere and sipped from Emporio Armani cups, of course.

However, the Emporio Armani spectacle didn’t end at Milan Fashion Week. Just last week, Armani marked another milestone by reopening its iconic flagship store at Via Manzoni 31. After a six-month renovation, this legendary destination for fashion, accessories, and innovation is back—and arguably better than ever. Spanning an impressive 2,500 square meters across three floors, the redesigned space was conceived to blur the lines between interior and exterior, elevating the customer experience to new heights. Gone are the moody, dark interiors, now replaced by lighter, more serene tones and sophisticated accents, creating an inviting and contemporary atmosphere.
More than just a retail space, the building is home to Emporio Armani Ristorante e Caffè, Nobu Milano, the Armani Hotel, and the Armani/Privé club, once again solidifying its status as a vibrant hub for both Milanese locals and international visitors. With its refreshed design and expanded amenities, this flagship store reclaims its place as a dynamic, welcoming meeting point in the heart of Milan.
