Woman crush Wednesday: Gigi Hadid

Gigi Hadid, born Jelena Noura in Los Angeles, California, has spent the past twelve months taking the modelling world by storm.

A fashion line collaboration, a steamy music video with her boyfriend Zayn Malik, walking as a Victoria Secret Angel, hosting the American Music Awards and being awarded Model of the Year at the British Fashion Awards are all just a few notches on this talented 21-year-old lady’s belt.

We can't wait to see what she’s got in store next. Gigi is this week’s Woman Crush Wednesday…

1. She was crowned Model of the Year
Gigi was awarded Model of the Year at the British Fashion Awards in December. Decked out in a silver jumpsuit by Atelier Versace, she was in attendance at the prestigious event night alongside the likes of Kate Moss, Karlie Kloss, Selma Hayek, Dontella Versace, Anna Winter and model legend Naomi Campbell.

2. She collaborated with fashion great, Tommy Hilfiger
Gigi really took over the fashion world in 2016, releasing a collaboration with Tommy Hilfiger showcasing their TOMMYxGIGI collection. The line ranges from $50 to $600 (US). The young starlet has come a long way since signing with IMG Models in 2013 and making her runway debut in 2014.

3. She’s got amazing relationships
Gigi counts Kendall as her best friend - they even have their own hashtag #KenGi. The model is also hugely supportive of her younger sister and fellow model, Bella Hadid. Her very publicised personal life doesn’t stop there - the world witnesses Gigi’s relationship with former One Direction singer Zayn Malik, where she shares cute snaps of the couple to her 25.4 million Instagram followers.

4. She’s a smart cookie
Gigi has spoken about the hate she’s received for being a model. She actually studied criminal psychology at the New School in New York but didn’t reach getting a Diploma as she had to hit pause as her modelling had her missing too many classes. Hadid spoke with Teen Vogue about her studies saying that she “literally profiles everyone” even when taking the subway in New York.

5. She’s been in the modelling game for years
I’m not sure what you were doing at two years old, but superstar model in the making, Hadid had been discovered and started working with Baby Guess. Her mother, Yolanda Hadid is also a former model (and currently on the Real Housewives of Beverley Hills) so you might say it was in her genes.
