Getting Pumped for Tomorrow: 50 Years of the Vodafone New Zealand Music Awards

Tomorrow New Zealand celebrates 50 years of the Vodafone New Zealand Music Awards. The night plans on showing off and appreciating our very own artists such as Lorde, Marlon Williams, Broods, Six 60, Shihad, Benny Tipene, Ginny Blackmore, Trinity Roots and plenty more. After another exciting year of Kiwi music with many of our artists getting huge international attention, New Zealand turns to this awards night to celebrate everything they have achieved in 2015. There are some stand out artists to watch including Canterbury’s own Marion Williams, who is a finalist in five categories, stemming from his debut solo album and single Dark Child. Joining this top ranking list is the beloved Six60 and Unknown mortal Orchestra who are both finalists in four categories. Marion Williams The eclectic mix of artists awards are presented by some serious New Zealand celebrities including All Black Aaron Smith, Shaun Johnson, Karen Walker and Lorde who's swapping the Saturday Night Live stage for Vector Arena to present the Breakthrough Artist Award. This much anticipated show is coming tomorrow with finalists including: Vodafone Single of the Year Finalists: Avalanche City – ‘Inside Out’ Lorde – ‘Yellow Flicker Beat’ Marlon Williams – ‘Dark Child’ Six60 – ‘White Lines’ Unknown Mortal Orchestra – ‘Multi-Love’   Breakthrough Artist of the Year Finalists: Devilskin Ginny Blackmore Marion Williams Vodafone People’s Choice Awards Finalists: Broods Lorde Six60 Sol3 Mio Stan Walker Highlights of the 2014 VNZMA’s included Lorde, David Dallas, Naked and Famous and Stan Walker. This year the level has picked up to enhance the 50 year milestone with more competition and awards to celebrate another year of New Zealand Music with the greats.
