Virgil Abloh is Louis Vuitton's new artistic director

Virgil Abloh grabbed the attention of the fashion world when he created boutique streetwear label, Off-White. His CV includes some of the worlds most exclusive designer collaborations, such as being the longtime creative director to Kayne West’s coveted fashion label. Adding to his list of accomplishments will now be his role as artistic director of men’s wear for luxury brand Louis Vuitton

The globally recognised fashion house has announced their collaboration with Abloh and the world reacted immediately, in favour of their decision. The Ghanian-American will be the first black designer to hold the position in the decorated history of Louis Vuitton.

Speaking to the Times, Abloh said, 'I feel elated. This opportunity to think through what the next chapter of design and luxury will mean at a brand that represents the pinnacle of luxury was always a goal in my wildest dreams. And to show a younger generation that there is no one way anyone in this kind of position has to look is a fantastically modern spirit in which to start.'

Virgil will be continuing his duties at Off-White and is set to reveal his debut collection with Louis Vuitton during Paris Men’s Fashion Week in June.
