the remix lowdown of laneway
Words by Catrin Owen.
The coveted announcement for Laneway’s line-up was made last week and it looks like the 2014 festival will be the biggest and best yet!
Laneway first came to Auckland four years ago bringing a boutique festival filled with indie music and fresh new faces onto the music scene
On Monday 27th of January, the urban playground of Silo Park will again be filled with the indie sounds of not only our favourite local acts, but also some big international ones.
Having played a sold out show back in August, British singer-songwriter James Blake is returning to headline the day with an extra special summer set.
Our very own Lorde will be there with her only performance this summer. The sensational teen just keeps on getting bigger and bigger with her hit single ‘Royals’ now sitting at number 3 on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart. This rapidly rising star is not to be missed.
It seems to be the year of threes with Californian sisters Haim venturing down to New Zealand for the first time and London trioDaughter also on the bill.
Rising Scottish trio CHVRCHES are also a must-see after sell-out tours across Australia, the UK and US, as well as an award-winning performance at SXSW.
Representing the Kiwis are local favourites including, Unknown Mortal Orchestra, trip-hop duo Doprah and the mischievous Rackets.
Plenty of shade will be provided thanks to the silos and you’ll be able to lounge around to the sweet sounds under the covered areas. The bar areas are expanding next to the harbour and with the best of local food stalls onsite you’ll be spoilt for choice with tasty snacks.
Laneway Festival 2014 is a must see on the summer festival round-up and seeing as last year was a sell-out day, put 9am October 3rd in your diary as when tickets go on sale via the official website and Ticketek.
