Inside the $100,000 goodie bags given to Oscar nominees
The lustrous gold Oscar trophies weren't the only prizes on offer at the 2017 Academy Awards Ceremony. Travelling home with nominees were six-figure party bags full of various complimentary goodies - ranging from the extravagant to the handy and even the peculiar.
Since the year 2000, the host and each nominee in the actress, actor, supporting actress, supporting actor and director categories are gifted a "swag bag" curated by Distinctive Assets marketing and worth more than most the average yearly wage.
Inside this year's bags were 14 carat gold and diamond encrusted bracelets, personally curated Belldini wardrobes, ten year supplies of foundation and personal training sessions with celebrity trainer Alexis Seletzky. Useful goodies like chapstick, crayons, protein bars and moisturizer also featured.
Oomi systems were received by some guests - these allow users to remotely control their home security and lighting.
Perhaps most enviable were the getaways dished out. Some guests received luxury spa retreats in North California others, an Italian vacation staying beside Lake Como. Unfathomably, it's estimated that only 10% of nominees redeem their getaways each year.
Some guests were given five nights accommodation at Koloa Landing Resort in Poipou, Hawaii.
And following tradition, there were some offerings of a more bizarre nature. Nominees this year also opened their goodie bags to discover vape pens, pelvic exercise trackers, underarm sweat patches and a jars of pecan nuts.
The "CPR Anytime" kit given away in some goodie bags, along with personalised hands-on CPR training sessions.
