And the Oscar Nominees are...

Awards season is well underway! 2017 and 2018 has seen a few incredible films take the Academies by storm. From The Shape of Water, to Three Billboards Outside Ebbing Missouri, Get Out, and Lady Bird, audiences have been inundated with box-office hits.

The full list of Oscar nominees has been released, and while a few come as no surprise, the show is set to be a star-studded affair.

Saoirse Ronan, Lady Bird

The 90th Annual Academy Awards will be held on March 4th in Los Angeles. Jimmy Kimmel is set to return as host for the evening.

There is always a number of high-profile snubs at the Oscars, like Black Swan missing out on the 2010 Best Picture, Samuel L Jackson's controversial loss for Pulp Fiction, and Tom Hanks' unfortunate run. Despite leading a number of award winning films, Hanks hasn't been nominated since Cast Away. The 90th Academy Awards is no exception. Despite it's acclaim and international success, Wonder Woman has been missed out in this year's Oscars. The recent sexual misconduct claims centring around James Franco, had many wondering about his role in The Disaster Artist. The allegations surfaced only a few days before voting closed, however it was enough time for the Academy to miss Franco off the list of nominees for Best Actor.

The 2018 Oscars will see the first ever woman nominated in the best-cinematography category! Rachel Morrison is nominated for her work on Mudbound, proving that glass ceilings still exist in Hollywood but can still be shattered.
