Bold Lips By Mimi Kelly

This season bright lips are everything! I love the look as it is super quick and makes a big impact. This is how I will be wearing bright lips: DAY: Be sure to wear minimal base, a neutral but dressed eye, a shiz load of mascara on curled lashes and a light but blushing cheek. For the lips, without using liner, pat from the lipstick building up colour from inside to out, dab lips with a tissue, repeat. Only work with your natural lip shape and be sure to clean up any colouring outside the lines. You’re looking for a softer edge for a fresh, plump, kiss-me look. NIGHT: Wear it with clean, even skin - easy on the foundation! Keep the eye neutral but you can pull in a black line on top only, loads of mascara and perhaps add a few extra lashes, lightly blushed cheeks but adding some defining shading and highlighting on those bones but go easy! For the lips, use a lip brush to get a defined edge. Again, work from the centre outwards and use your lip brush to give you a clean edge - once you have this edge it’s cool to apply directly from the stick while you’re out on the town. COLOURS I LOVE: So the colours of the moment are really your always faithful red, plus pinks and oranges. These range so hugely so don’t be afraid to try on and see what catches your eye. NARS – Red Square - comes in a fat pencil, very orange based red but will suit everyone, $59 from Mecca Cosmetica STILA - Intriguing- Matt Longwear, amazing Fuschia, $62 from Mecca Cosmetica And of course, M.A.C has a few goodies: M.A.C MORANGE – A big seller, super yummy, no-excuses orange, $40 M.A.C RED – my fave, sells out fast, a bold poppy red, $40 For the less brave, M.A.C has “Sheen Supreme” - a lighter less opaque choice that doesn’t compromise on colour. I loved Korean Candy, a glossy orange, and Insanely It, a bright pink, also $40. Remember M.A.C has their recycling program - in exchange for six empty M.A.C plastic containers you get a free lipstick! This is about to change to just the top 20 international shades so if you have your eye on a colour left of centre best get in fast. So be bold and inspiring, give your lips a shot of impact - it’s make-up, it’s supposed to be FUN! x Mimi Kelly
