New Balance Resurrects a Fan Favourite from the 2000s and Gives it a Modern Spin.
There’s no denying that most fashion is a rotation of trends recycled from years gone by, with the 2000s currently having a moment. And while some things are better left in the past - bubble skirts and oversized belts - of course, there are always welcomed comebacks. We’re excited to announce that New Balance is resurrecting a longtime fan favourite from the archives and giving it a modern spin.
Originally celebrated among runners for its reliability and supreme comfort, the 740 quickly became a cult classic. Known for being an A-star running shoe, the 740 earned a loyal following in the running community. The 740 combines familiar elements of 2000s running inspiration – an open knit mesh upper, segmented midsole, and a streamlined silhouette – with flourishes like two-tone colour mesh and angular overlays, that give the 740 a unique visual identity. Today, New Balance brings back the 740 with a nod to its original features that made it an icon, now made for everyday wear.
To celebrate the relaunch of this classic style, Remix hosted an exclusive styling suite and invited five local tastemakers to style their new 740s by mixing New Balance apparel and items from their own wardrobes to give you a bit of styling inspo for your very own 740s and show you that there’s no wrong way to style these iconic kicks.
“The 740 is not just a reinterpretation; it’s a rediscovery of what made the original so special. We've preserved the essence of the 740, ensuring that the reissued model delivers the same level of comfort that runners loved, now in a design that fits seamlessly into modern wardrobes.” says Brian Lynn – Global Vice President of Lifestyle, New Balance.
The new collection of 740s are available from October 30th and are set to sell out. Run, don’t walk.
