Le Diner en Blanc celebrates its fifth birthday!  

Turning five is a momentous occasion, especially if you’re the world’s most elegant picnic! Yes, that’s the right, Le Diner en Blanc - Auckland is celebrating its fifth anniversary on 24 March, 2018 and guests are once again invited to attend an evening of elegance and sophistication at one of Auckland’s most prestigious public places.

From humble beginnings as a picnic for a handful of friends in 1988, Le Diner en Blanc – Paris now attracts over 10,000 people each year and has attained global recognition as an epicurean phenomenon. What was once a ‘friends and word-of-mouth only’ event has transcended six continents, 30 countries and close to 80 cities worldwide. Despite the technology behind the event changing, and its growth in popularity, the concept of Le Diner en Blanc remains the same: a secret location where good friends share a gourmet meal together in a beautiful space.

This year, Diner en Blanc - Auckland hosts are hard at work creating a magical night which will once again see thousands of white-clad guests dining and socialising into the night. Participation in Le Diner en Blanc is coordinated in three different phases. The first phase is for members who attended Diner en Blanc the previous year; Phase 2 is for those guests who have been referred by guests in Phase 1; and Phase 3 is for people who have registered on the waiting list. Remember, Le Diner en Blanc is steeped in tradition and guests are encouraged to observe certain requirements and follow a few rules. These key rules include: attending the event in rain, hail or shine, once you’ve confirmed your spot; dressing head to toe in elegant white-only attire; drinking only wine or champagne; and leaving the location spotless and free of all rubbish at the end of the event.
