Best places to aprés dine in Queenstown this winter season

The winter season is here - although cold, there’s a shared appreciation for the comforts that accompany this season. Brisk walks in the fresh alpine air, layering our outfits, and delicious, hearty meals that satisfy our tastebuds and warm our insides are some of our favourite parts of the colder months. With Queenstown being one of the most popular winter destinations in New Zealand, the culinary selection is on par with some of the best in the world. Below are two of our must-visit restaurants when journeying down to New Zealand’s slice of heaven on earth to make your itinerary planning that little bit easier.

BOTSWANA BUTCHERY

Taking the winning spot for ‘Best Restaurant’ in the Hospitality New Zealand Awards this year, Botswana Butchery is the perfect place to stop and wind down with premium quality food and a wine list that truly represents the taste of Central Otago. Their a-la-carte menu is carefully curated to suit a wide range of palettes, and its ongoing recognition throughout the country is a testament to their level of service and attention to detail. Located in Queenstown’s historic Archer’s Cottage’, with spectacular lake views and roaring log fires inside and out.

WHITE + WONG’S

A cult favourite in New Zealand: White + Wong’s - their menu is a correlation of classic Asian street foods entwined with Western cuisine, providing warm noodles, soups, curries and dumplings. While Asian Fusion is the focal point, you'll also find traditional menu items such as Bang Bang Chicken, Bao Buns and Peking Duck. Our personal favourite on the menu is the lamb massaman, a true testament to your Otago surroundings with the best lamb New Zealand has to offer.
