Celebrations all around Auckland have started to kick off to celebrate the year of The Dog and to welcome in the Chinese New Year in true cultural style. Here’s our top picks of events thats are happening around the city and we think you should get involved… 

Auckland Lantern Festival, Auckland Domain 

When? 1st - 4th March

Pop down to the Auckland Domain for a fun night of Chinese cultured entertainment and food! Marvel at the hundred of handmade lanterns, enjoy the dancing and theatre performances, get involved in workshops and nibble on some authentic Chinese food while watching the firework spectacular.

When? 2nd February - 3rd March

SKYCITY transforms and brings the celebrations of the Chinese New Year right to the heart of the city bringing live entertainment and The Auckland Night Markets that will offer an array of Asian inspired food stalls.

When? 9th February - 4th March

Lastly, emerse yourself on a musical and theatre journey and head along to this unique concert. The prestigious Chinese Orchestra of the China National Opera and Dance Drama Theatre are coming all the way from China to bring this fascinating experiencing to New Zealand.
