Sail GP takes NYC and Remix publisher checks out all the commotion
It's been dubbed 'the Formula 1 of yacht racing', SailGP is an exciting, fun-filled day that lives up to its reputation. Remix publisher Tim Phin heads to the New York race to check the action.
Eleven boats representing different countries compete in SailGP. The boats are an iteration of the ones raced in the 2021 America's Cup held in New Zealand, which kickstarted a foiling revolution. These wind-powered race boats lift onto foils that minimise drag in the water and allow the boats to reach speeds well over 40 knots.

The small course format of SailGP makes for some excitingly close racing. The grandstand and Adrenaline Lounge are situated in prime position on the edge of the course, including the finishing line, so you're guaranteed some up-close action.
"From the moment you arrive, it feels like the multi-million dollar world-class production that it is." - Tim says

The entire SailGP production is transported and assembled in each racing location. Fifteen cities around the world host a round in the season.
The vibe is something like a music festival. Thousands of spectators come to watch the racing with various spots to catch the action.
"The grandstand area is great, but the Adrenaline Lounge is amazing. Fully catered with multiple bars and lounging areas and some of the best viewing. Highly recommend."
"You don't have to be a 'yachtie' to enjoy SailGP. The racing is so much better in real life than watching it on the TV. They feel like they are going to tip at any moment. I don't know how they do it."

The popularity of SailGP is growing and the next event in New Zealand sounds like it's going to be the biggest yet. We can not wait.
See you in the lounge!
