AUT Photography students capture the best bits of Auckland on Instagram using the new HTC One M9
Spark has given ten AUT Photography students the opportunity to use the new HTC One M9 mobile to show off their Instagram and photography skills. See an example of one below, taken by photographer Morro.
With the HTC One M9's incredible 20 megapixel camera, students will be as close as they can get to having their usual SLRs in their pockets. Paired with their own artistic flair, the students’ challenge is to take awesome photos showcasing what they love about Auckland – music, nightlife, fashion, street art, people, design or even animals. The up-and-coming photographers have complete creative license with what they choose to post.
There’s no limit to the amount of photos each student can upload, but all images will be loaded onto Instagram between May 11th and May 23rd.
Use the Instagram hashtag #unleashtheHTC to keep up with the AUT photographers’ progress on Instagram and keep an eye out for Spark’s footage from behind the scenes and their filmed profiles on the photographers.
As well as each getting a free phone to keep, the photographers get the chance to publicly show off their skills, with Spark choosing their favourite to be the official paid photographer at their Spark Lab events and George FM choosing one photographer to cover the Hermitage Gig.
We’ll also be featuring our favourite shots in the next issue of Remix, so keep an eye out!

Photograph by Morro Qui:
Morro takes photographs of things that interest him in life almost instinctively. At times he finds communication in the English language difficult and turns to photography as a means to express himself. Morro has a fascination with reflections and the unique perspective of the world they provide. He captured this image with the HTC M9 One when he noticed the beautiful reflection of the building and stormy sky in a pool of water near his parked car on a city building rooftop. He then flipped the image in the phones full editing suite to replicate it as it stands.
