The adidas Taekwondo has returned to become the next bonafide shoe of the season

There’s no denying that adidas has dominated the vintage revival category as of late, especially when it comes to footwear. Would you believe it if I told you that the iconic Sambas found on the feet of Kendall Jenner and Hailey Bieber, were in fact heralded from the 70s? The Adidas archive of sneaker memorabilia is unmatched, and within their rich history of sneaker releases, is where we’ve found the next bonafide shoe of the season.

The long-standing low-profile silhouette of the adidas Taekwondo sneaker has officially made its return to the street style scene after its original debut on the martial arts mats of the 80s. Forty years later, the style’s clean and minimalistic look continues to reflect the Taekwondo mentality of well-being and inner balance.

Inspired by the sporty silhouette spotted on the streets of Paris, London and Copenhagen; Remix called upon some of Auckland’s ultimate it-girls and style icons to celebrate the return of yet another three-striped icon.

No doubt, the adidas Taekwondo (slip-on and laced) sneaker has been added to all of our virtual shopping carts for the spring and summer months, thanks to its versatility in styling possibilities, and of course, endless comfort.
