Review: Adidas Calabasas capsule collection
It's been almost seven months since Kanye West held his Yeezy Season 4 fashion show in the sweltering New York heat. After making attendees wait nearly four hours to begin the show, fans and critics alike have been waiting for the entire collection to drop. The rapper/producer/fashion designer has only released his collection intermittently online at select retailers. Most recently he has released a selection of Yeezy season 4 pieces at SSENSE online. Adopting what can only be described as a “treat ‘em mean keep ‘em keen” sales model, Yeezus has been able to keep crowds clamouring for his latest releases. The hype came to the fore when the ‘Ralph Lauren Don’ released the Adidas Calabasas capsule collection.
Featuring a three stripped sweatpant in either Maroon/Red, Navy/Maroon or Black/Red and a sweatshirt with the same colour palette, Kanye continues his '90s leisurewear motif. However, the (super)star of the capsule release are the Yeezy Calabasas Powerphase sneakers. The all-white tennis shoe features a complete leather upper with gold-trimmed letters spelling out Calabasas on the outside of the shoe. This clean and simple aesthetic is a must for sneaker lovers and signals another notch on Adidas’ take over of the sneaker world. With winter coming ever so close the Calabasas capsule collection is a must-wear collection for both Yeezy disciples and fashionistas alike.
