Purpose, precision, and passion

Reflecting on family, career highs and enduring style, All Black and TUDOR ambassador Beauden Barrett lives a life of purpose, precision and passion. Savouring a fleeting moment of solace in between matches and nappies, Beauden Barrett strikes a welcome balance of grit and composure that not only embodies the essence of the All Blacks but also reflects his affinity for stylish sensibilities. As he embraces new roles—from nurturing two young daughters to supporting his brother as All Blacks’ captain—Barrett’s outlook on life has evolved.

Much like TUDOR’s iconic timepieces, known for their unwavering commitment to excellence (and of which the rugby star is an ambassador), Barrett applies the same standard to his game, family, and style. With an appreciation for timeless pieces—such as his latest pink Black Bay Chrono—Barrett is not just building a legacy; he’s inspiring a new generation to live with purpose, precision, and passion.

Since welcoming his two young daughters, Billy and Coco, Barrett finds new joys in the simple moments with family—a shift he deeply cherishes. ‘The joy that Billy and Coco bring Hannah and I...it makes me a bit emotional talking about it,’ he admits. ‘Seeing them grow so quickly makes it so much harder being away.’ Parenthood has clearly brought a profound sense of purpose to Barrett. As he navigates the demands of his career, he recognises the importance of striking a balance between rugby and family, with the latter always taking precedence. ‘Family is more important than anything else,’ he reflects. ‘It makes me consciously want to be my best when I am away from them.’

This sense of companionship has always flowed through Beauden’s veins—his household family name says it all. Growing up in a rugby-centric family, Beauden’s upbringing was filled with spirited competition among his namesake siblings. ‘Whether it was in the lounge or outside in the mud, it was always competitive,’ he remembers. ‘Our cousins and friends were always involved. That was the beauty of living rurally; it was a very tight-knit community.’ Now, with his brother Scott assuming the captaincy of the All Blacks and Jordie as Vice Captain, Barrett relishes the chance to support them both. His focus on what he calls the ‘X-factor’ in rugby— an unmistakable yet elusive quality pinned to his own jersey—defines his perspective on the next generation of players. In a sport increasingly marked by structure and analysis, he seeks out those who bring something unique to the game. ‘I look a lot at players who show new ways to play the game and possess a difference, which nowadays is hard to do, but it makes it that much more special when they do stand out.’

Beyond rugby, Barrett finds a creative outlet in style, enhanced by his role as a TUDOR ambassador. Since partnering with the Swiss watchmaker, Barrett’s taste has evolved, aided by his wife, Hannah, who’s nudged him toward a more refined aesthetic. ‘As a dad, things change a bit,’ he laughs. ‘Right now, I’m on the more conservative side of things, but I love matching my TUDOR watches with whatever I’m wearing.’ His newest timepiece, he tells me—the pink Black Bay Chrono, designed in partnership with Inter Miami FC—reflects his openness to a bolder style. With relationships spanning All Blacks rugby, Inter Miami FC football, and Alinghi Red Bull racing, TUDOR’s global presence in sports echoes Barrett’s own commitment to precision and excellence. ‘It’s a great company to be part of,’ he says. ‘It’s taking those courageous, bold decisions to dare and not be afraid of the consequences—traits TUDOR wholeheartedly embodies.’
