Niko Walters and Andrea Orani style the new Timberland x Tommy Hilfiger collection

If there’s ever been a more popular time in fashion for collaborations it’s most definitely right now. Late last year, Timberland and Tommy Hilfiger announced their two-part capsule collection which left streetwear mavens waiting in anticipation. By fusing heritage Americana with ’90s nostalgia the collaboration quickly gained praise from fans around the globe, propelling both brands into a new wave of stylised fame.

We talked to Local DJ Andrea Orani and musician Niko Walters on why they love the collab, their own style inspo and what fashion means to them in an exclusive Timberland x Tommy Hilfiger photoshoot and interview.

Andrea Orani

Describe your personal style in 3 words
Mood dependant & resourceful

How does fashion help you express who you are?

It's another way I can express myself without using words, a medium I can adapt at my own will if I feel like it.

What is your favourite piece from the Timberland x Tommy Hilfiger collection?

The Puffer has been very handy for festival nights and travel this summer.

What’s your favourite item of clothing you own and does it have a story?

I have many pieces that I love for different reasons. Hmmm I think my black leather pants I bought off Ebay have been the best staple and trustiest piece for me. I  wear them with anything and they fluctuate with my waist throughout the year lol

What does Timberland as a brand symbolize for you?

All Terrain!

Who is your biggest style influence?

Mum, Dad and my two sisters.

One thing in the fashion world that you hope never comes back into style?

I just want everyone to find their own style and stand in their beauty as special individuals. So I hope society standards go away and never come back to be honest!

Niko Walters

Describe your personal style in 3 words

Simple. Understated. Surprising.

How does fashion help you express who you are?

It shows what I represent as a person, and who I am culturally. It's another creative outlet for me, trying to keep an outfit understated but have an element of surprise or flair.

What is your favourite piece from the Timberland x Tommy Hilfiger collection?

The tear away pants and matching jacket. I love beige clothing and the baggy pants fit with the bold branding down the leg is just 10/10… also the fact that you can turn them into shorts? a summer dream! The jacket is just straight fire, especially the pocket detailing and the quality - I love it so much.

How does your style differ from every day to performing/being on stage?

I tend to push the boundaries a bit on stage and get more bold with my outfits. It's a way to transform into a more expressive character and adds to the whole performance.

What’s your go-to outfit of choice?

An oversized vintage tee, Levi jeans and some sneakers, I’m loving my Timbs. Chuck some jewellery and funky sunnies on to add some fun and we're good.

What's your favourite item of clothing you own and does it have a story?

I bought some green Stan Ray painter pants in 2018. I reckon the price per wear must be in the decimals by now - I THRASH THEM. Sometimes you just find something that fits perfectly, works with everything and is COMFY AF. No interesting story behind them but I would place serious value on those Stan Ray pants. They don't make the style anymore - I need to buy a safe for them or something.

What does Timberland as a brand symbolise for you?

Honestly, Timberland for me is New York, especially New York hip hop, and you'd be hard-pressed to find a cooler scene on earth than that! That's where they entered the pop fashion world. Over the decades they've crossed genres and cultures to be seen on hipsters, goths and jocks. That's a sign that they're a truly iconic brand that runs deep in fashion culture.

Who is your biggest style influence?

Probably ASAP Rocky, Aron Piper, Kanye (not what he wears but what his team designs), Pharrel, Virgil Abloh. Some IG accounts I follow who are dope - ssun.1o, danclemt, gregntore

One thing in the fashion world that you hope never comes back into style?

Tight jeans for guys. I'd need a strict diet! long live baggy clothes trend.
