We asked our identical twin muses about the ins and outs of twinhood.

What's your favourite thing about being a twin?
LILLIAN: That I’ll never be alone. No matter what happens, who you are, what you do, where you are, someone loves you unconditionally. You’ll always have a friend that’s also family.
LILY: I can’t remember a moment in my life that my sister wasn’t there and I’m so grateful for that

How often are you together?
LILLIAN: These days, we’re not together as often in person because of our work schedules and personal life, but we talk every day.
LILY: There isn’t a day I haven’t been incontact with her, we text all the time about EVERYTHING!
Have you ever taken advantage of the fact you can pass for each other?
LILLIAN: Yes, once in high school we swapped classes to see if anyone would notice. I went to algebra and my sister took my art class. The teachers and classmates were shocked after we told them, only our close friends could tell.
LILY: I was so nervous to do that, we never did it again!
Is it true you always know what the other is thinking?
LILLIAN: I wouldn’t say always. I know my twin well enough to make a guess and 80% of the time I can guess what she’s thinking or feeling
LILY: Yeah, I never know what she’s thinking, but I know her well enough to make a very good guess on how she’s feeling in certain situations.

Describe a memorable twinhood experience...
LILLIAN: When we lived in England, we always wore the same uniform to school. I remember when we first came to New Zealand and had our first mufti day. I remember wearing matching colourful neon orange floral pants with my sister. We were 13 years old, identical twins, wearing bright clothes, so naturally everyone was staring at us. As kids we would dress the same but as we grew older, agreeing on an outfit became harder. It was after that moment that we stopped dressing identically.
LILY: We started to become different people, we were finding ourselves and it was hard to accept that we weren’t ’the same person’ anymore. Definitely the most memorable time for us
Do you believe twinhood is an unbreakable bond?
LILLIAN: I think for my sister and I twinhood means we have an unbreakable bond.
LILY: Absolutely! But every twin is different, I’ve met a few twins who aren’t as close as we are.
Do you share the same tastes in fashion or in jewellery?
LILLIAN: My sister and I don’t really have the same style. It doesn’t mean I won’t borrow a jacket or some cute heels but I think wearing her style wouldn’t feel authentic to me. With accessories, I think we are very similar. My sister is very good at finding jewellery pieces so I usually follow suit.
LILY: I think we have similar tastes, but not necessarily the same style. I borrow jackets or a cute top here and there, but if we were to do a closet swap it wouldn’t feel like me. Yeah, she likes my jewellery choices and borrows them often!

What was your favourite Bulgari piece you wore today from the B.zero1 collection?
LILLIAN: I thought the yellow gold B.zero1 necklace was my favourite. Gold always looks good on my skin.
LILY: They were all so beautiful, but if I have to pick one I would say the B.zero1 bracelet in yellow gold.
