Next up: London
On my first day in London, despite having visited a few times before, I had never taken the opportunity to explore Savile Row. This time, I was fortunate to be hosted by an old friend, now the global commercial director at Gieves & Hawkes. She invited me to visit their flagship location on Savile Row, the beating heart of bespoke tailoring.
As I waited in a beautiful, historic private room upstairs, I noticed military uniforms on display. Initially, I thought they were replicas, but I soon learned that they were the official uniforms of members of The Household Cavalry. These uniforms were actually worn by the official members and were preserved in this location.
This marked the beginning of my fascinating history lesson on Savile Row - and one of the most memorable spots to visit in my London Guide.
Savile Row
1 Savile Row, London
Where tradition and craftsmanship intertwine. Since the early 19th century, this storied street has been synonymous with elegance and precision, offering hand-stitched suits that epitomise individual style and perfect fit. Renowned for dressing royalty, statesmen, and celebrities, Savile Row's tailoring houses—such as Huntsman and Gieves & Hawkes—are revered as temples of sartorial art. Each suit, a masterpiece of meticulous skill, tells a tale of heritage and innovation. This street is a must-see for those who love men’s tailoring.
Bake St
58 Evering Rd, Lower Clapton
Famous for their crème brûlée cookie, this bakery and sandwich shop is a must visit if you find yourself in East London. This little neighbourhood spot absolutely heaves, with everything from tacos, baked goods, sandwiches, soft serves + more flying out the door. Order the crème brûlée cookie (caramelised on the outside, creamy on the inside) and the Nashville chicken sandwich, and get there early on weekends.
The Ganton Arms
18-20 Ganton St, Carnaby
This modern pub in the heart of Soho is the perfect reprieve from shopping on Carnaby St, with plenty of outdoor seating. Serving up all the classics, I can’t go past a fish & chips but the smash burger here is also excellent.
Box Park Shoreditch
2-10 Bethnal Grn Rd
If you’re looking for a fun night out, Box Park is great for groups. It’s a shipping container style bar lined with food stalls, DJs and a dance floor on the weekends. What started as a pop-up and ran for 12 years, I hear is now closing at the end of the year - so be sure to visit if you’re in London this summer.
Sexy Fish Mayfair
Berkeley Square House, Berkeley Square
Is it a restaurant or a nightclub? It’s both. Expect the buzziest dinner atmosphere you’ve ever experienced, tasty Japanese food, and a wide selection of cocktails. The perfect place to start a night out in Mayfair - and it’s the same vibe every day of the week.
Borough Market
London SE1 9AL
Spend a morning at London’s oldest food market. From fresh produce to viral sandwich stalls and shucked local oysters, you’re spoiled for choice here. Open Tuesday to Sunday, I’d recommend avoiding weekends if possible.
