gatsby get up: three steps to getting your gatsby look
A little party never killed nobody, right? This weekend the Remix team is gearing up to tear up the dance floor… Gatsby style! We’ve got the crew, we’ve got the theme and we’ve got the location sorted – down at SkyCity’s club twentyone for ‘A Night of Gatsby’.
But 1920’s New York isn’t the easiest outfit to pull off… especially if you want to be a classy flapper. With our lady readers in mind, who seem to be flocking to Gatsby parties every weekend at the moment, we compiled an easy three-step list of some glam gear to help you get the look everyone is obsessed with…
Step 1 – The Dress
First thing’s first, you need the dress before you choose the rest. Sticking to a black theme with plenty of frills and lace, we found three sweet little numbers down at Storm ideal for a Gatsby occasion. And priced at $239, $249 and $189 respectively, you’re won’t blow the budget before you’ve even got started. Not to mention, these black dresses will go to good use beyond your 1920’s rendezvous.
Step 2 – The Shoes
Next up, the girl’s best friend. How much you jazz up your dress with hot heels is up to you. For a Gatsby look you can roll with some classic black heels or glam it up with a bit more sparkle. We’ve given you three options here from Scarpa. The Keira heels in gold and Kind heels in black by Kalliste retail for $690.00, whereas the Bronte heels in silver by Paco Gil go for $390.00.
Step 3 – The Clutch
Top off your look with a clutch to store your make-up and goodies. This is your opportunity to add a bit of sparkle, especially if you played it safe with the shoes. Although these three cute clutches from Runway are ideal for a Gatsby gig, they’ll also lend well to a heap of other outfit choices in the coming season. The Tonda Crystal clutch in ombre pink python by Diane Von Furstenberg retails for $490, whereas you can get it in orange and silver crystal for $520.
