How to get hired by Instagram

Hard work and passion are a must, but what will make you stand out from the crowd? Instagram is no doubt one of our most loved and used sharing platforms, where we would only dream of landing a job at. Naomi Shepherd, Head of Brand, Facebook and Instagram for Australia and New Zealand, shares her tips on making the dream a reality and getting hired at Instagram. 

Instagram looks for builders who believes in connecting communities and users from all over the world because ultimately, this is the ethos the platform lives by. Shepherd says, “Across our family of apps and specifically true for Instagram, we are focused on building our communities. At the core, our mission drives us. People who can demonstrate an alignment and affinity with our mission are essential in continuing to drive impact here." As well as being a builder, Insta' wants to hire people that can demonstrate themselves as a maker and creator. Shepard adds that platforms such as Facebook will be looking for the similar skill sets as Instagram. 

Specifically for Instagram, the way to make your CV shine brighter than the rest is by including your creative expression. “After all, creativity, expressive visuals and telling a story with a single picture is what Instagram is all about,” Shepard explains. So having an aesthetically pleasing 'gram is worth it after all. Having an active account with beautiful pictures and thoughtful captions will show that you are a part of the platform's community and that you are living what you preach.
