The caterers taking over the Auckland culinary scene

Boutique Auckland caterer, LittleWolf is the talk of the town with its modern mix of simple, inspired and unique foodie options. While still relatively small for a market-leading catering company, LittleWolf are delivering some of the most impressive events across Auckland. So much so that we asked them to join us to celebrate our extravagant 25th Anniversary Gala at St-Matthews Cathedral. Guests were served flavourful delights such as their harissa prawns wrapped in prosciutto and the all-time favourite porcini mushroom arancini. But it wouldn’t have been a true party without a healthy dose of carbs, so we had to quirk things up a little with some Remix-branded French fry cups – an absolute hit with our guests.

Tell us a little bit about LittleWolf? Where did you come from?

The call for a fresh new vision in catering was a driving force behind the establishment of LittleWolf in 2010. Catering had traditionally been ‘old-school’, and so LittleWolf set out to bring modern restaurant quality food to every event. Today we have an extensive menu library that allows us to create consistently memorable food. We focus on seasonal produce fused with flavours and cuisines from around the world. This means our selection of dietary options is diverse and interesting. For example, a Gluten Free offering might be Kingfish ceviche with pickled vegetables, miso & coconut and Vegan Mushroom and bean ‘meatballs’ with grilled fennel & lemon, both within the same menu.

Why do you think LittleWolf has been so successful in Auckland and in particular the wedding industry?

Instagram-worthy and mouth-watering food are pivotal, but it is the overall LittleWolf experience that is the secret to our success. We have never set out to be the largest or the most ‘high-end’ caterer, rather we focus on providing exceptional service from enquiry to execution. 

What trends are you excited to see for the next weddings and event season? 

Bright and bold. We are seeing bright colours again from linens, stationary, and serve ware. Cut crystal and patterned glassware are also back. You won’t just find these hiding at the back of an op-shop shelf. Intricate glassware introduces texture and a richness to the table suite. Exquisite bite-sized and handheld options that you can indulge in while walking around. Casual yet sophisticated. We love our Bloody Mary Cherry Tomato Canape with Sesame Caramel. An unexpected burst of flavour, such a fresh, simple ingredient – it’s also Vegan!

What’s next for LittleWolf?

We are working on some new venue opportunities within Auckland city and the outer suburbs, so keep an ear out for more on that. In 2023 we are planning to hold our very own, LittleWolf Wedding Show. Which is a unique opportunity to host some of our favourite suppliers. It will be an intimate event where couples can talk all things weddings, with delicious canapes roaming, and cocktails flowing, all in the one place. We look forward to seeing you there!
